Soup Gang Progress report
This is the first semi unofficial report on the happenings of the Soup Gang. The Gangs current motto- "Kill the bad, eat the good..." Leif Valin has inspired much of what is about to become a randomly updated Blog about Soup, and what not. Last Nights soup was Roasted red pepper, and Pumpkin, with coconut milk, jalepeno's, ginger and so on... In the true spirit of a classic dinner it was served with cornbread, that was peppered with green onions. All homemade of course. Soup Bowl Pic provided bt Mandy Beem-Miller....

YEAH SOUP GANG!
last night's soup in Austin, Texas:
1 Onion
5 cloves garlic
1 package white mushrooms
4 carrots
1 red potato
1 cup barley (pre-soaked for 45 mins)
2 tomatoes
1 cup green beans (i used frozen)
4-5 cups veg stock (water added as needed)
bay leaves
dried parsley
basil
tumeric
a few tablespoons soy sauce
Sauteed the onions and garlic (it could have used more garlic) in olive oil. added all veggies except the green beans (in at the end) and the stock. added the soy sc. and the spices. brought to boil and let simmer until the barley was tender.
delicious. i grated a wee bit of parm on top. mmmmm.
