THANKS NIC! and i hope the cold weather doesn't get to you!

If anyone has anything they want to contribute, please contact me or crandall and we will get on it!

Official Business

While Alexis was rockin' the lentil soup in ithaca, there was an official Soup Gang meeting in Austin. With founder, Leif Valin in town...we went all out.
you know it!

Billie and I shopped and cooked all day, pretty much. She made some Egyptian Lentil
egyptian lentil
and I made some Chickpea Tahini soup with baby portobellas from a recipe in that awesome cookbook (see older posting). We also heated up some Minestrone that Billie had made before. Accompanying the soups was a green salad (with the most amazing vegan caesar dressing ever), a kick-ass pasta salad by Billie and some amazing breads we bought at whole foods. And for desert, vegan peanut butter cookies with chocolate or jam. equipment

A special shout-out to Taj for bringing a 12 pack of Coca-cola, most of which he consumed throughout the duration of the meeting (i exaggerate for effect).
my dog loves the boys

Full on Soup Gangster action took place with the following people in attendance: Billie and myself, Leif, Corrigan, Joe, Sandy, Jen, Taj, Stew, Hallman and at least a couple dogs.
unbeknownst to them, they will get jumped in later.

The business side of the gang is in the works. Don't you worry about that! Possibly more pictures to come when Leif sends me his!

a balancing act

The Plain Street Chapter of the Soup Gang had an impromptu gathering of gangsters, making the first official soup of 2007, for these parts. Actually, Alexis made some kick ass lentil soup, and I just stopped by out of sheer luck, to enjoy the fruits of her labors. The soup was already to go by the time I showed up, as was a delighful cup of PG tips. Not Bad, if I had to compare the awesomeness of it, it might compare to the old bike in the pic, which I think is pretty dang kick ass.

Soup de Yule

Christmas in Austin found us sitting around a table with friends and a giant pot of soup. "Autumn Harvest Stew" to be more precise. This recipe came from this amazing cookbook: which Billie bought for me for xmas. BEST GIFT EVER. I cant wait to make more of them. Anyway, soup, salad, some amazing tofu, a little boozin' and good company made for one of my favorite holidays ever.
here's a photo of the deliciousness to make your mouth water

and of course, the gang (minus some key members), and then some were here...

In other news, there's a rumor that SG founder Leif Valin will be in town in a matter of days. Hopefully we will have the first official Soup Gang meeting of the Austin meets Colorado Chapter.

and one more thing...in the next week, i WILL be getting parsely tattooed on my leg...since i wasn't kidding when i said it was the king of all ingredients.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS from the kids who were doing soup before soup was cool.
