WELL...i know we've been slacking seriously in the SG department as of late. Perhaps it was just hard to top the BUCKET of soup we had for thanksgiving...
It is now January, and the weather is up and down in Texas. I'm sure the weather is still miserable in other parts of the world and therefore i KNOW you must be making soup...you're just not telling us about it.
Here's what SG-atx has been up to the last few days...
Today:
impromptu meeting with only part of the Austin gang. Billie and i were suddenly inspired this evening, and made some (vegan) Tomato Artichoke soup. The recipe was from the Millenium cookbook. However, the author developed the recipe after eating similar soup at Austin's own Mother's Cafe! I don't mean to sound uppity when i say that I've had Mother's version, and this one solidly tops it. (that is NOT to detract from the deliciousness of Mother's, or any of the yummy things they make).
We had the soup with pressed vegan grilled cheese sandwiches made on a stove-top cast-iron grill, and a simple side salad. YUM!! the soup was awesome. seriously.
NOW...here is some other exciting news!
A friend of mine, Raychelle, is currently traveling the country with some kids who are from London. They are following the campaign and talking to people about American politics, etc. Dan is a journalist, and is writing a blog about the journey. Tom is illustrating it with his comic style drawings. It's pretty cool, really. If you're interested at all...check it out at:
My Fellow Americans
ANYWAY, Dan's entire myspace blog has always been devoted to soup, and he sometimes invites people over for soup-offs and such. So...what does that mean? Clearly he IS the London SG chapter, and he didn't even know it yet! AND...to prove it, he made me some mushroom-white-wine soup that was DELICIOUS!
Obviously I was psyched to welcome the London chapter to the Gang, and gave Dan one of my SG prints, made by Prez Leif Valin himself. He was psyched.
As you can see...alot to tell. but enough about us...
GO MAKE SOME SOUP AND TAKE A PICTURE!

There is nothing like soup. It is by nature eccentric: no two are ever alike, unless of course you get your soup in a can.
